Cushman Kellogg Davis, a Senator from Minnesota, was born in Henderson, Jefferson County, N.Y., on June 16, 1838. He moved with his parents to Waukesha, Wisconsin, where he attended the public schools, Carroll College in Waukesha, and graduated from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor in 1857. He studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1859 and commenced practice in Waukesha.
